Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor dies.

The Veteran actor Shammi Kapoor passed away today (Aug 14) morning of chronic renal failure 

He was 79. The actor who ruled the Indian cinema in the 1950s and 60s was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai last Saturday.His condition over the past week had been serious and he was put on ventilator since the day he was admitted.

The actor who is best remembered for his role in films like ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’ and ‘Junglee’ was on dialysis for the past few years. Actor Amitabh Bachchan paid his condolences on microblogging site Twitter and said, “Shammi Kapoor ji passed away this morning at 5:15 am.

Shammi Kapoor was known for his unique style and high energy. He was also undoubtedly one of the best dancers of his generation and brilliant comic timing which can be witnessed in most of his films. 

The veteran actor recently shot with his grand-nephew, Ranbir Kapoor, for the latter’s upcoming film Rockstar. 

With the death of Shammi Kapoor, Bollywood has lost a gem today and the ‘Yahoo’ star will be missed by millions.

She's way ahead of most of her contemporaries and industry opinion states that she is one of the next superstars of this generation. BT finds out what's been keeping her on her toes lately. 


You've said that Ranbir Kapoor is still a close friend, but on Karan Johar's show it didn't seem so. What has changed between now and then? 
Ans:-Nothing has changed. We were friends then and we are friends now.

Sonakshi Sinha play Item number in Joker

'Dance Karle English Mein' is pretty much a part of the film but comes with its own fun flavour. Sonakshi gets into a full-on 'jhatak-matak' mode for this song which is set in a village. Though it is not raunchy by any means, it has in it to reach out to the masses in a big way", informs a senior unit member.


Director Shirish Kunder’s film Joker starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, posted a few stills from his upcoming 3D Sci-Fi drama. This has been a dream project for Shirish who is the co-producer of the film too. The film also has Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba in a supporting role.


According to Kunder, Akshay will be seen in two different looks in the movie. “One is the local look in which he will be sporting a typical Indian dhoti etc…, the other a western look in causal cool attires.”


From the first look it appears that Akshay and Sonakshi play a village duo. Shreyas Talpade plays Akshay’s younger brother. Minissha Lamba plays Talpade’s love interest, a TV reporter.

The Desire, scripted and directed by R. Sarath, stars Chinese actor Xia Yu and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles while Anupam Kher, Jaya Prada, Vikram Gokhale, and Asif form the supporting cast. The film is perhaps the first Indo-Chinese collaborative production and is produced by Sunanda Shetty under the banner of Ten Golden Star, and co-produced by Shi Yun. The film has been selected to the New York City International Film Festival 2011, where it will be screened on August 24.

These days  many Bollywood actresses are opting out for the bold look; but when they decide to pose on the front cover of Maxim, which is a famous men’s magazine, they further their boldness.

Previously we’ve seen the likes of Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Minissha Lamba breaking the image of a girl next door by posing on the front cover of Maxim.

 However, one actress who’s no newbie to the magazine is Deepika Padukone, it’s no doubt the actress is looking sizzling hot and shows of her model image well. However check out the difference in poses, while the February 2010 addition showcases her in a more vulnerable pose, the latest addition of the magazine portrays the star in a more fierce and bold look, showing more skin, and sporting red lipstick to match the background.

We’ve noticed Deepika Padukone seems to be the chosen personality to be featured on the front cover of many popular international magazines.

Akshay kamar and Shahid kapoor in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2

Shahid Kapoor is about confirmed to play the role of Chhota Rajan in Ekta Kapoor’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2, a film that is getting bigger and bigger with each passing day.

For the sequel, Ekta Kapoor has roped in Akshay Kumar to play the role of Dawood Ibrahim, a character played brilliantly by Emraan Hashmi in the first part. For the role of Chhota Rajan, Dawood’s right hand turned arch rival, Ekta wanted someone who could bring in a lot of energy and intensity. Shahid suited the role perfectly and Ekta has been in talks with the actor, who is expected to sign on the dotted line soon.

“The role of Chhota Rajan is as intense as the one Shahid Kapoor portrayed in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey. He is a very good actor who has portrayed a wide range of characters till date. He is one of the top choices to play Chhota Rajan. Milan (Luthria, the director) had long meetings with Shahid. He has explained the script and the character. Akshay is currently working out to get the rugged look required for him to play Dawood. Shahid too will require to work on his Chhota Rajan looks” said one source.

This should be one of the biggest releases of 2012. Akshay Kumar vs Shahid Kapoor, how does that sound? Should be quite a battle that!

Hrithik Roshan in Don 2

'Don 2' is about the most awaited movie of 2011. Right from the first look that producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar revealed, to the first poster, to the first promo of the film , the film has been making the right noise.

A strong rumor doing the rounds since quite some time is that 'Don 2' features Hrithik Roshan in the negative lead. The makers have kept his character under wraps, since they want the audiences to feel shocked when they watch SRK and Hrithik battle on the big screen. In fact, Hrithik's pics were splashed all over when he visited Berlin, while the shoot of 'Don 2' was in progress. But Farhan Akhtar denies it outright. “Hrithik visited Berlin as a friend. He's not part of DON 2 cast. But, yes, there's a possibility that Hrithik and I may work together in the future,” the talented actor/director stated.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt's look in the much-awaited remake of 'Agneepath' was revealed on his 52nd birthday today. "First Look of Sanjay Dutt in Agneepath! Await your comments," filmmaker Karan Johar said on micro-blogging site twitter. Johar posted a link of Agneepath's facebook page on twitter, which shows the 'Khalnayak's' shaved head, besides his bulked up physique and tattoos over his arms.The Film  Directed by Johar's former assistant, Karan Malhotra.    Agneepath is a remake of the 1990 Hindi film and reportedly different from the original. The original Agneepath, directed by Mukul Anand, starred Amitabh, Mithun Chakraborty, Madhavi, Rohini Hattangadi and Danny Denzongpa. It was produced by Yash Johar, Karan’s late father.


Though the film failed commercially at the box-office, Bachchan's performance was praised. Bachchan and Chakraborty received National award for Best Actor and Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award respectively. The remake version will see Hrithik reprising Bachchan's iconic role of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, while Priyanka Chopra would be the female lead. The character essayed by Mithun Chakraborty has been totally done away in the remake and the role of villain played by Danny Denzongpa is being essayed by Dutt. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor will play another negative character. The remake version hits cinema houses on January 13, 2012.

Bipasha Basu has said ‘I don't need to be on a talk show to prove my goodness! My relationship with JohnAbraham is over for good, for reasons known best to the both of us. What happens between two people is supposed to stay between the two when it's over, that's the dignity that I have grown up with and the respect I deserve.

The fact that John Abraham decided to talk opening about their break-up has triggered Bips to make such a statement. Though we respect her feelings about a relationship being private, did she really think this would be possible considering the two had been dating for almost 8 years?

India reject use of umpire decision review system in Test series in England

London, June 10 (ANI): India has again rejected the use of the umpire decision review system during this summer's Test series against England, as senior players still seem unconvinced about its efficacy.
According to The Telegraph, the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has sent an official notification to the England and Wales Cricket Board that it does not want the system to be used during the four-Test series.
Under International Cricket Council regulations the system can only be used with the consent of both boards.
Senior Indian cricket team players, including Sachin Tendulkar and M S Dhoni, have said that they do not trust the technology.
The Indian team's refusal to accept the DRS system could affect the performance of England oof-spinner Graeme Swann, who has acknowledged that during last winter's Ashes tour the benefit he has gained from the technology.
In the past, traditional finger spinners would have been lucky to get one lbw decision in every 20 appeals. Now with the DRS system consistently proving umpires incorrect when giving not-out decisions, that ratio has changed to about one in five. (ANI)

Naxals become danger anti-landmine vehicle, 10 security men dead

Raipur, Jun 10 (PTI) In the second brazen attack in as many days, Naxals today blew up an anti-landmine vehicle, killing 10 security personnel in Chhattisgarh''s Dantewada district.

The anti-landmine vehicle of the security forces was approaching a bridge near Gatan village when the Naxals triggered a powerful blast and opened indiscriminate fire on them, police said.

Seven Special Police Officers (SPO) and three police jawans were killed when their vehicle was tossed in the air by the powerful blast, they said.

Three of the injured have been rushed to a hospital in Bastar district headquarter.

The Naxals had yesterday opened indiscriminate fire near the camp of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Naraynpur district, killing four jawans and leaving another injured. PTI SNG SHS
